Carrying too much photo equipment. Strap and lens cap became tangled around the camera and mini-tripod.

Should have put camera in the camera bag. Besides, it’s not wise to carry a camera around on a tripod.

Forgot to look at the LCD. Don’t hold sunglasses, keys, etc. in your hand when taking a shot.

Didn’t notice the finger tip in front of the lens. Also, the lens was faced in the direction of the bright sun causing lens flare. Watch the viewfinder. Use a lens hood; shoot from different direction.

Ooops, concentrated on the central area of the subject so much, didn’t see feet. Should have used the LCD which, unlike a viewfinder, shows 100% of the frame.

No photos! Left the memory card home in the card reader. Always check if the memory card and a fully charged battery are in the camera before going out on a photo shoot.

Blur due to camera shake for shot taken inside a room with low lighting. Using a flash would help “freeze” the action by causing the camera to use a faster shutter speed; use a mini-tripod.

Didn’t notice tilted horizon line. Check angle of the horizon, and other vertical and horizontal lines, before shooting. Straighten horizon with image editing software by rotating and cropping.

Underexposed image (too dark) due to strong backlighting - Take photo from another angle. Or should have locked in focus and exposure on the darker area, then recompose. Also could have used Auto Exposure Bracketing or changed the EV (exposure value) to a plus (+).
