Ricoh recently announced a new, if not revolutionary, camera system: Ricoh GXR interchangeable lens unit system. It's currently the smallest camera that takes interchangeable lenses, rather lens units that contain sensor, processor and lens.

Sorry to hear about the memory card problem.

I'm wondering if you've tried a new memory card. That would give you an good indication of whether the problem is with the card or the camera. If you have a friend with a memory card reader that accepts your memory card type, see if the photos transfer correctly to his or her computer.

If you're using a memory card reader, try transferring the images with the USB cord that came with the camera. Also try uninstalling and resinstalling and/or updating the driver and software for the reader

If the card is the problem, format it (though not until you contact tech support as suggested below). You may still be able to recover the lost images, though there is no guarantee. We have some information about the photo recovery process here:

Do consider calling the memory card or Nikon tech support. They may be able to give you very specific help to solve the problem and tell you how to recover the lost images if possible.

       I can view the photos in the camera. I tried viewing them from my DVD player using the mem card and the images are the half green thing. Tried printing off the mem card and they are green. Looks like bad memory...........now what to do.

This sounds like corrupted files, sadly. The problem might have been created by the transfer or by your memory card itself. The first test I would run is to try to look at the pictures in the camera. If these are fine, then your originals are probably ok. You could try transferring them again. If you cannot look at the files in the camera, the card probably has corrupted your data. Your best bet then would be a photo recovery software. There are many good programs out there, some of which are free to try.

If and when you can recover your data, I strongly suggest you format your card. Some cameras and card readers offer the option of a "low level" format, if you have this option use it.

I would run the card through a few tests before trusting it with important pictures in the future, that's for sure.

  I have a Nikon S230, 4gb SanDisk mem card. The pictures downloaded to my PC are fine in the thumbnail version but enlarged they are half ok and half like a negative in green. Anyone experience this ? Is it a bad mem card ? Have I lost those photos for good?

I've been working hard to learn to use my camera,  I'm still having a hard time with learning the exposure setting (ISO, f stop, shutter speed). does anyone know of any  type of chart that might help me master these settings.
