I bought a digital camera and it dies so quickly! It came with 2 AA regular bateries. But in the manual it said that the batteries should only be used to check the camera out. Then it doesn't say what you are supposed to use.... Are there like special batteries you can buy..?

Hi Olga,

Welcome to the Q&A Board!

You're not alone in your question. Most of us are shocked at how fast digital cameras zap alkaline batteries.

If you don't take lots of photos and your camera accepts lithium batteries (not all do so it's important you check your manual or call the camera manufacturer), give them a try. They have a shelf-life of 10 years, are said to have seven times the life of alkalines and are quite lightweight. However they are expensive.

If you take more than a few photos every now and then, invest in rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. They will save you lots of money in the long run. Most manufacturers recommend NiMH.

Take a few minutes to review this information on digital camera rechargeable batteries and battery chargers.

When I recently did research on chargers, I had no idea they had so many features such as conditioning and trickle charge. So if you have more questions, come on back and ask.

Enjoy your camera!!
