I've been using digital cameras for years now and have never had this problem.  I'm used to being able to depress my shutter release button halfway in order to lock my focus before I take a picture, but my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P150 suddenly stopped letting me.

Now I have to depress it fully or not at all; halfway does nothing.

I've reset the camera with no luck.  Does anyone have any further ideas?

Hi there. Sony's "eSupport Knowledge Base" suggests resetting your camera per the manual's instructions (which you've stated you've already done without a fix). If that doesn't work, then they state that "service will be required". Here is that web address: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do
