I have a digital camera with a night mode. When using the night mode should you use the built in flash or not?

Hi there Ken,

Typically "night (scene) mode" employs long exposure times to utilize ambient light. Therefore, you don't need to use a flash. You will, however, want to use a tripod to keep your camera steady during the exposure. If you still have the camera manual, look there for info on what your specific camera model is doing.

Long exposure time photography is a blast. Static objects remain crisp while anyone or anything moving through the scene will be blurred. This creates a very dynamic image. Have fun!
