My camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-P51. The problem is that my shutter is stuck. Whenever I turn the camera on to take a still image, it stops when it's half open and makes this odd noise. Not a beep, but a grinding-like noise. I'm not sure if I burned the motor that opens the shutter out, or if something is jammed in there. Does anyone have any idea? It's a relatively new camera for me, and it was a gift. :-/

Hi gossipGIRLx3 and welcome to the Q&A Board.

It sure sounds like something is wrong. I suggest you call Sony tech support since they can determine over the phone if it is a problem that needs repair. If it is, ask all the costs involved, including the cost for any parts. Make sure a repair does not cost more than the camera can be bought for today. Unfortunately, digital camera repairs are not cheap and sometimes it's better to get a new one than have an old one repaired.
