yes! thanks gail and mike(practice and good advice does help a lot), you guys made my day..hopefully, ill get to do more photo shoots this coming friday. will try to upload more pics. somehow when uploading the pics, i tried to get the quality to go as high as possible. will play around with the internal settings of the cam as well. ill use manual focus on my macros in my next round. also im starting to utilize thetripod and the auto timer more often now.

btw gail, i know the only stupid qustion is a question not asked, but the nikon 5400 is capable of taking pictures in black and white and sepia modes right? just how do i select these features?  Embarrassed  any help is greatly appreciated.

ill definitely work on more macros and start on abstract and potrait soon enough (but i need a very compliant human test subject, hahahaha!) will keep all of you posted. my next post should be coming in from the creative photography thread.

many thanks and merci.

The 5400 only offers black and white. In a play mode, hit the menu button then scroll until you find Saturation Control. In the Saturation Control menu, select Black&white. You can convert an image to sepia tone (and B&W) in most any image editing software.

btw, when you're in self-timer mode, it goes off in 10 seconds if you depress the shutter-release button once; 2 seconds, if you depress the shutter button twice in rapid succession.

Please do "continue' this thread in the creative photography board...it should be of great interest to others.

The macro capability of the Nikon 5400 is unparalleled.
