I've just finished a 37 minute Christmas movie, added music and burnt it onto DVD for the whole family to see and hopefully enjoy long after I'm gone...

BUT, I'm thinking of putting an external flash on my digicam in order to get some more light on the scenes.

The scenes are a tad too dark to suit me. No, I don't really like the flash idea since it could certainly make the scenes have a "reflection" of fake lighting, if you can understand what I'm trying to say...

Would a Bescor MX600 which sells for about $40.00 be okay?

It has adjustable leafs I believe that could direct the excess light away from any light overexposure.

My Sony TRV 17 has "night light", which I don't really like, so, I'm not using it.

Before I order the Bescor, I'd like to know if I'm on the right track here.

Thanks..& Happy New Year to all!!.....

Grumpy....

Hey grumpy,

If your concern is overly harsh lighting you might want to look for a lighting system that allows you pivot the light so you can bounce the light from the ceiling or walls rather than direct it at the subject. I took a quick look at the MX600 at B&H and it didn't seem to have that option. They did have some that did but they were a tad more expensive.

Another thought would be a diffuser of some sort but I don't know what kind of heat those lamps give off.
