Hi! I'm new here, and I'm no camera expert. I was hoping someone could tell me why the following happens when I take a picture with my Nikon Coolpix 2200:

One singular image does not appear on the screen. Instead, one piece of the image copied over and over as little squares appears! My camera worked fine until I accidentally put it in portrait mode...now it does this crazy thing whenever I try to take a picture!

I'm sure there is a simple solution to this. Could someone please help? Thanks!

Hi BethanyBez,

Welcome to the Q&A Board.

It sounds like you may have inadvertently seclected a menu that is causing the problem. The simple solution is to "reset" the camera. You should be able to reset the camera settings in Play mode. Every camera is a bit different, so please check your manual.

Now, as to what might be causing this.

Your 2200 has three Capture modes: Single, Continuous, Multi-shot 16. My best guess is that it is set to Multi-shot 16. If so, every time you press the shutter-release button it will rapidly take 16 shots of the same subject and they will appear as you describe in one image file.

I had a Nikon 2100 and they probably work about the same. If so, put your camera in Play mode and select the menus. Under Continuous, select Single. Then you'll be back to taking one shot at a time.

Let us know if this is the solution...if not, we'll go from there.
