 Hello all ,
I own a Nikon COOLPIX 5400 , yesterday when I turned on the camera the Monitor remained blank I tried to take a picture but the af green light did not turn on as usual only the power on light was on and the camera did not respond. I checked the zoom switch and the lens responded .
(I Installed firmware level 1.4  two months ago)
I began manipulating the switches and found out that if I turn the camera on and at the same time I depress the voice memo button for about 10 seconds the
monitor came to life .
 Has any body have had such a bug ? what is the cause and how to fix it ?

Just curious, could you somehow inadvertently turned off the monitor in the Setup Menu? (page 137 of the manual). Or, possibly, could you have turned off the Monitor via the Monitor Button on the back of the camera (page 9 in the manual).

If both of these are okay, you can try resetting all the camera settings ( Reset All in the Set-up menu).

Please let us know if any of these work.
