It's been a while since I was able to take any picture, so I decided to force myself to do it, and what better occasion than a butterfles festival!

All were shot with the Pentax K20D, some with the Sigma 17-70 lens, some with the old but wonderful Vivitar series 1 70-210. Older than me, all manual, but still up to the task!

Very nice Bernard. Where did you find butterflies up there? I know your no closer to spring than I am. :-/

Far from Spring, although in a few weeks the Maple trees will be cut and sugar shacks will open.

I believe larvae are purchased from another country and the butterflies are born inside a green house, which is open to the public. We could see some cocoons while touring the place. Once the butterflies are "born" they are released inside the green house. It's an anual fesival of sorts.

You got some great shots!

That blue one is fascinating. I'm curious. Is it really as thick as it appears in the photo?

Are you refering to this one?



If so, yes it was pretty thick, and highly textured.

Yes, that's the one. I think it's fascinating and it really does look thick; not the light and airy look of most butterflies that I've seen. Nice catch and beautiful colors.
