Hi everyone.  I was wondering if anyone had any advice on photographing in a studio that has mirrors on three walls.  I took pictures for a friend but I didn't realize that my own reflection would end up in the pictures.  Also the flash reflected as well.  I only have a Canon Powershot at this time but I'm hoping to upgrade to a Sony Alpha soon.   Thanks!

Hi,

if you are forced to take pictures in this studio, a solution could be to use drapes or canvas of some sort to shade the mirrors. Othrewise, there isn't much that can be done, except trying to exclude the mirors from your frame.

You could also try to set up a bright lighting and avoid using the flash. But I doubt it will deliver impressive results.

Is there a place you can set up the camera on a tripod that wouldn't show in a mirror? If so, use the self timer to trigger the shutter so you don't have to use the flash. If there is artificial lighting, check the white balance setting. Try to keep the ISO set to 100 but if you absolutely must, raise it to 200, or 400 max.
