I understand the brand new Canon Mark III has "live view".
Yeah, and a dual-processor, and a price to match. Olympus also offers live view, but my personal favorites these days remain the Pentax offerings.
When DSLRs shrink to the size of the S2, I may reconsider.
Lenses will always be bigger, or there wouldn't be much point. But some DSLRs (like the K100D, the D40x, the XTi, for instance) are really not that much larger.
Bdery ... check out a great alternative to D-SLR's HERE. It even has a true through-the-lens view finder (EVF)
Thanks, but that's not what I mean by through the lens. My S2 also has an electronic viewfinder (EVF) but a DSLR allows you to actually see a real image through its lens, not a screen rendering with limited resolution. Much more useful for focusing. And the main advantages of a DSLR, namely lens versatility and usable high ISO, are not found on the FZ50.
Anyway, for now I'll keep my trusty S2 and enjoy its pretty good performances.
