I could not wait for the hummingbirds to return this year now that I have my FZ50. Smiley (I did not have it when they were here last year)

And now that I have switched to using manual focus and manual shutter/aperture, it was much easier to get good shots of them!!  Smiley

Here is my best shot so far:

And here is a shot which combined 2 photos into one:

That is actually 2 photos of the same bird, combined into one.    Smiley

Nice work. I like the edited photo too.

Do you use a a flash when photographing hummingbirds?

Thanks Gail. Smiley

I have, in the past, used a flash for hummingbird photos.  I didn't for these shots.  The sun was so bright I did not feel that I needed the flash - my shutter speed was fast enough to stop the pimary action. Smiley

And I figured I was too far away for the flash to do much good.  Although it may have reached them.  I'm not sure.  I'll have to try it next time. Smiley

It is quite odd .... that little hummer has not been back since I took those photos.    Sad  Maybe she got camera shy.  Tongue

I have been wanting to get some more, and better, shots.

Praise the Lord for helping me get the shots when I did! Smiley

A point in case for "take the shot".  You might only get one chance.  Smiley
