Just thought I'd share a couple from the Riverfest last night. Quite a little adventure we had trying to get a vantage point but well worth it in the end. We were virtually on the launch pad, so close you could feel the percussions from the shells.
As you can see it was a tad windy...

The grand finale... the explosions just pounded the body, what a show.

Hey Mike, those shots are great! You were on the launch pad? Wow, talk about percussion! Rock concerts will seem bland to you now.  Grin Cheesy

Those are great shots! I especially like the first one because it's unique! Can you put the link to larger images?

Just click on the smaller images. Wink You may have to double click on them to get full size (depending on your settings).

Here's an extra link: Artistic License
It's a combination of two shots. Grin Roll Eyes

Mike,
Great shots.  Looks like we were in pretty much the same place for taking the images.  Some samples from my attempts and link to gallery..

Jay you did real well with your shots, your gallery has some real winners in it. I see you were at 14mm, I thought I was too close using the 24-70. Spent the night wishing I was a tad further away.Wink

Thanks for sharing

Mike,
Thanks.  That was my first real "field" shoot with a Canon 10-22mm I had gotten for my 20D.  The lens is a winner in all counts.  As long as you don't mind the fact that it won't work on a full frame camera like the 5D.  I figure if I go FF, I'll be keeping the 20D anyway.  For images with my 24-70 (a couple of nights later), here is a sample and a gallery link for those..

Deb,
Thank you..  I only wish there were more to the backgrounds on some of these.  Unfortunately this year, what background there was, wasn't very attractive, so I had to crop into mainly the firework itself.  I shot in RAW and processed from there.  Too bad there aren't fireworks more often in the year!  :-)

I hear you Jay, I was very disappointed that they decided to move the launch area from the barge to on shore. I was really looking forward to shooting the fireworks from Charter Oak Landing with the city in the background. The year before I shot from Riverside Park and having a bit of E Hartford in the pics wasn't too bad...

Mike,
Not sure what they'll do next year, but not sure the folks in Hartford could even see much of them..  I plan on scouting some sites.  I heard some folks down by the river were getting burns and the like,  Thanks again,
