Assuming that you find these at all interesting which do you prefer:
vertical

or horizontal:

They're not the same shot, they were shot in the orientation shown.
Default sharpening in conversion to tiff as well as a touch of + saturation otherwise resized only. (1/10th original size) Wink

Hi Mike! Lovely shots ... but which orientation do I prefer? That's a tough one because the "feeling" is so totally different.

The vertical one gives me a glimpse of the internal structure as a little insect might approach it. It's like getting a sneak peek ... bzzzz, I'm flying 'round the petal towards the stamen .... I like that.  Smiley

The horizontal one is a nice beauty shot of the flower. Very pretty.

I like them both very much. If I had to pick one it would be the vertical. If you cropped it, I'd probably see how it looks leaves a bit more petal showing on the left so the dark stamen is not touching the side.

Actually they're full frame so I guess I could crop dark spot out. Or I could just rotate the other image like so...

Whatcha think?

Here's my 3 cents worth (adjusted for inflation) ...  Smiley

I prefer your original vertical crop. I like the way the petals wrap the frame; nestling, if you will, the internal parts. The top left petal curves and balances the lower right shadow nicely.

I prefer your original vertical crop.

How about with ever so slight a modification (to remove the one little dark spot (stamen) that Gail doesn't like  Roll Eyes)

Gotta love that clone tool. Grin

That's pretty! Nice cloning!

But, don't shoot me, I never thought of that as a "spot". Rather I assumed it was part of the stamen. I don't mind it.  Smiley
