I bought this camera at Christmas and am totallyloving it.  But I have some questions.

Can I buy zoom lenses for it?  I went to a camera store and one guys says no, one says yes but only to 1.5 times zoom and everyone else has no clue.

Also, I want to make my images as such:  The centre main object be in focus and everything else seem hazy.  Would I be right in thinking that the A setting does this? and would having a zoom lens help in this?

I just know that I can take far better pictures.....

Hi andreaknapp and welcome to the Q&A Board!

Yes, you can buy accessory lenses for your camera. Fujifilm makes a TL-FXE01 E Series Tele Angle Lens. It's 1.94x / 177mm (35mm equivalent). It lists for $130 in the U.S.

It's a good idea to call or visit a camera shop as they can give specific help. Also ask if they have third-party, quality accessory lenses that may give you more reach. Third party lenses often cost less than those made by a manufacturer.

Yes, the Aperture setting on a camera controls what's known as Depth of Field (DOF). What you're after is "shallow depth of field" and it is a technique which if often used for macro, portrait and similar shots.

Here's a link to an explanation of how to control depth of field, including how using the zoom can increase or decrease DOF.

http://www.digicamhelp.com/taking-pictures/depth-of-field.htm

There is also a link on the page to a tutorial which illustrated how to create shallow DOF with image editing software using layers.

Give it a try and experiment.

If you have further questions, let us know.
