Tell us something about how you took it. What kind of camera? Macro mode? Did you use a tripod or did you take it hand held?
Laying on my stomach in the dirt

, hand held but braced by my elbows on the ground.

Sort of a natural tripod, chest - elbow - elbow.

Shot using the digital rebel (300D) with a 100mm macro lens and external flash. The flash mounted on a bracket and positioned to provide the best illumination of the flower. In trying to get the greatest depth of field I usually have the aperture stopped down to at least f/16 so I need all the light I can get.
Editing was done using Canons Digital Photo Pro, a fairly recent discovery for me, to tweak the contrast and saturation and save as a tiff from RAW. Add just a touch of sharpening during the conversion then open in PSP 9 for resizing. I cropped it just a touch and resized to 2000x1333 pixels. Why that set of dimensions? Well my last step was the final resize to post here at 300 x 200. For the last resize step I use a nice little stairway action from
Faramir
. You provide the final dimension and the action resizes the image in steps (but it doesn't like to start with too big an image so I start it at 2000 px max). So far my experience is that it does a better job than simply resizing in PSP.
Hope that wasn't more than you wanted to know.
