howzit.
so, ive finally mastered the shot where you have something IN focus in the foreground, and yet, the background is out of focus; looks cool. now, can i get the same shot, with the focus reversed? ie. the object up close to be blurred, and the object in the background to be in focus? im close: have been messing around with area focus, and diff. apertures (though my camera only allows up to f9 i think), but i cant get it just right. i have a fuji s5500.
so, any advice from the digicam gurus?
thanks
andrew

Hi Andrew,
I'd open my aperture up (say f/2.8 ) and, since your camera allows the option, use either manual focus or single point AF so the cam doesn't try to adjust for the nearer object (area focus).

Hi Andrew,
In additon to aperture, other things affect depth of field, such a zoom length and distance the subject is from the background.
You can find some info about it here:

Don't forget to focus on that distant object, not the nearer one, if you want the foreground soft and the distant object sharp when using that wide open aperture.
