Seriously, you really want to challenge us, and that's good.
Image editing and cropping are so subjective but here are my honest thoughts. Your crop is better however now you have sort of an "emptiness" and a big boulder at the center.
Here's my attempt at cropping to put emphasis on the falls:
As an aside, I selected the some of the bright green leaves with a Magic Wand tool. Then I reduced the brightness and contrast so they don't draw the eye to the left bottom corner so much.
Next, I selected some of the white part of the water and added brightness. Next, I selected the entire photo
except the leaf area and applied an unsharp mask which sharpness and brings out additional contrast.
Someone else may come along and have an entirely different take. It's really a matter of personal taste.
