hi,
i am a wheelchair user with limited hand dexterity
i am looking for a digital camera that supports a cable shutter release
more important, a commercial bulb or small off/on click release that i could operate by hand, or organizations that would build such.
recently i operated a digital with a timer and it was the first pic i have taken in 30 years. cool.
thank you for any info

Hi there, and welcome to the Q&A Board!

This is so wonderful and encouraging to hear.

Can you tell us a bit about the type of photography you will be doing as it will help narrow down the choices. A number of advanced digital cameras take a cable shutter release or wired or wireless remote. All digital Single Lens Reflex cameras do too. The later are more expensive and definitely larger, but more versatile.

Give us a bit more info and we'll be happy to help.

Hi brewco,

Welcome to the Q&A Board.

Some advanced digital cameras and most digital single reflex cameras have wireless remote capability. Some remotes let you trigger the shutter at specified intervals. Those cameras tend to be expensive and you may have to purchase the remote as a separate accessory.

There are other, possible less expensive, options to consider.

A digital camera with an Intervalometer may be just what you're looking for. An intervalometer lets you shoot images at a set interval. For example, some Canon digital cameras let you set the interval time between one minute and an hour. The camera takes between two and 100 images within the time frame, depending on the settings you select.

You can also buy a digital camera that takes video, preferably one that uses high capacity secure digital memory cards.

Tell us what you've budgeted for your purchase, we may be able to be more specific about brands and models.
