I use an "xD" card in my Olympus camera.  The card has more than 50 pictures on it, I can view the pictures from the camera,  but when I insert the card into my card reader or attach my camera via USB cable the computer, the computer tells me that the drive is empty or that the card needs to be formated.

When I put the card back into the camera; all of the pictures are still there.

I have tried a different xD card in the card reader and in the camera attached via USB to the computer  and it works perfectly, so I have to assume that the card is the problem.

How can I retrieve my viewable pictures from this card?

It appears that the card only works with the camera while taking pictures.

Hi and welcome,

as you might have seen on the forum, you're not alon with issues accessing the data on xD cards.

The first thing that comes to mind is to use your camera to transfer the pictures, since they are visible in-camera. You probably have a USB socket on the camera, and the manufacturer surely give you a cable with your purchase, so that's the first thing I'd try.

You might find another answer if you read the "corrupted xD card" thread, that's where most pople have shared their solutions.

I did try the camera through the USB cable, the computer still stated there was no media or asked if I wanted to format the media?

And I did format the card prior to taking the pictures.
