Hello

recently my memory card for my digi cam has been playing up - saying that the photos are protected and blah blah. basically my comp told me to format the card as it couldn't seem to read it so i did and now it doesnt work at all. It came up with an error on my camera, so i tried to format the card via the camera which now comes up with 'format error'.

im very confused, the camera keeps telling me different messages that ive now forgotten. arrgh! stressing me out.

either way it now says 'format error' ive tried formatting it on the computer again but the computer now wont format it - it has an error. also it does not work to format it again on the cam itself.

PLEASE help, i need my camera and i dont want to have to buy a new memory card, this one is 2gb

thanks

joel

Hi Joel.  Welcome to digicamhelp. :-)

You never want to format a memory card with your computer.  It should be done with the camera.  Perhaps that is why the camera cannot read it now.

Here are some helpful links here at digicamhelp:

http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/memory-cards/memory-card-corruption.php

http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/memory-cards/erasing.php

You might want to see if your camera allows a "low level format" like mentioned in that last link.

Sorry to hear about the problem with the memory card, Joel.

If the suggestions given in the references don't help, I highly recommend you call the camera or card manufacturer tech support.

I get really upset that camera and memory card manufacturers don't provide more instructions and online support for these types of problems. They happen all too often!
