It's my birthday today!!! Smiley  Praise the Lord for another blessed year. Smiley

I am going to use some birthday monies Smiley to  buy a camera bag  or backpack.  Any suggestions, tips, etc. for choosing one?

It seems the backpack concept might be the way to go for me.

Any recommended manufacturers or ones to avoid?

Any tips in what to look for?

Thanks all. Smiley

A very Happy Birthday to you!

You may find this information helpful when looking for a camera bag.

I am most familiar with Tamrac and Lowepro. Both companies make good, quality bags. Maybe someone will come along and suggest others.

Hi there and happy birthday to you!

I've got a Lowepro backpack model and absolutely love it. I use it whenever I go out hiking with my photo gear. The hip belt is well-padded,substantial and comfortable. The shoulder harness is well padded also. My tripod straps on nicely and doesn't wiggle around. There's also space on the outside for attaching a jacket, etc. if you want to. If you're planning on carrying heavier gear than say a digicam, look at the frame and harness system. One that doesn't bear the load will end up causing you shoulder and back discomfort on long hikes.

Thanks for the birthday greetings and camera bag info Gail and Deb. :-)

I ended up getting a bag that night, before I saw your replies.  I had not planned on getting one that soon, but I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for. Smiley

I wanted one with a removable padded camera section.  The only one I could find like that was a Quantaray backpack.  My previous bag was a Quantaray and I was very pleased with it.

I am very pleased with this new one.  It is like the ones you both suggested above.  It even has room for a laptop.   Smiley

Thanks again for the help. Smiley
