Hello, my girlfiend has a 1gig fuji film xd card. don't know which model camera she is using as she is away at the moment.
Recently on holiday in Australia, the card got full so we took it to a shop that would put the pictures on a DVD for us, problem is when the card was put in the card reader it locked up the guys PC we were breifly able to view the pictures but his PC had to be restarted.  Now the card cannot be used in the camera as memory card error comes up, and when it is put in a card reader the card does not show up at all.  I have tried a few free recovery programs but none of them even detect the card.
I have been looking on a few diffrent web sites and seems like XD cards have a problem when inserted into card readers.  I have spoken to some one who does data recovery in his spare time while studying and he has come accross this issue before and phoned Fuji tech support but they were no help, just told he he had bought a cheap card reader, he treid to recover the pictures from the card with a few peices of software but again nothing would even detect that the card was there.
Can anyone offer any advice or at least tell me they have heard of anyone who has managed to recover data from these cards?
