I currently own a sony dsc-v1 camera and have the wide angle and telephoto lens for it. What I want to find out is if something should happen to my camera are the lenses able to be used on any other camera out there? Thanks for your help...

Hi randaaf, which wide angle and which telephoto lenses do you have? What are the model numbers?

The wide angle is Sony VCL-DEH07V with a 45.5-52mm adapter and the Telephoto lens is aSony VCL-DEH17V with a 45.5-58 adaptor

PS: If you're using Sony brand conversion lenses, we can find compatible camera models using their website. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_BrowseCatalog-Start?CategoryName=acc_DIAccessories_DILenses_DCLenses&Dept=cameras

Sony lists the VCL-DEH07V A and a VCL-DEH17V A. Both of these are only compatible with the DSC-V3 camera. So, I would suspect that the models you have may only be compatible with the DSC-V1 camera. A search for your specific models gave no results. I would try contacting them to verify this.

They no longer carry the lenses for the v1 nor the v1 itself. I was told they could be used on any v model but the only other v model is the v3 and it is hard to find it unless shopping online. If I got another camera and was able to get an adapter to go from the camera to the size of the lens ( 52 or 58mm ) would that work and if so how would I find out if there was any available? I am hopeing not to have to replace my camera anytime soon but I have taken but in the 2 1/2 years I have had the camera I have taken over 15000 pictures and it still takes great shots but I have noticed the recording time is taking longer so I can not take another shot as soon as I used to...so I have been thinking more about possible problems before they happen just in case...Thanks

Hmmmm, in theory your idea sounds like it should work but I'm not familiar enough with the other models and their specs to be able to advise you. Sorry. Perhaps, again, you could contact Sony for recommendations.
As for your camera being slow to write, I'd try new batteries first. Or have you already done that?

I had not thought about the batteries I have three but usually use one and rechage it when I have taken pictures a lot and it is not being used I can try one of the other batteries and see if it makes a difference. I have extras as when I go somewhere I usually have them all charged and with me so do not have to worry about running out of battery during a tril or visit then at night I can charge all there one in the camera and two with my extra charger that does 2 at once...thanks for your help and hopefully it will be a long time before I have to worry about a new camera..

This article may be of help to you. It discusses rechargeable batteries. http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/batteries-chargers/rechargeable-batteries.php I've three rechargeables that I use for my dSLRs. I use one to exhaustion, while the other two are fully charged. Then I swap out the spent battery for a charged one. Thus all get rotated fairly evenly. Rechargeable batteries don't last forever however. Eventually their ability to hold a charge diminishes and they must be replaced.

I don't know if this will be of any help to you but the Sony Troubleshoot guide of the V1 manual says (page 100 of the online manual):
"Symptom: Recording takes a long time. Cause: NR slow shutter function is activated. Solution: Set to a faster shutter speed than 1/25 second when [ISO] is [800], or a faster shutter speed than 1/6 second when [ISO] is other than [800] (page 44)."

Thanks I will play with it and see how it comes out Hopefully it will help I usually don't change the settings I usually leave them on auto for the most part the only thing I can think of is my grandaughter might have changed something with her tiny fingers. I didn't think about looking in the trouble shooting guide to see if the problem might be solved in there for the slow recording...I will post how it comes out unless something comes up in the next day or so after I play with it to see how it works...Thanks for all your help...
