Trying to help my sister.  She has a Olympus D-320,  Several 16mg cards that when in the camera you can preview pix.  When I try to download (have not tried camera direct but 2 other readers (one HP and one pcmci) they say "no images found".  Huh?

Hi adguy,

Welcome to the Q&A Board!

Are you using an xD picture card? I understand that they don't do well in card readers. To determine whether it's a reader problem or not, do try downloaded directly from the camera via the usb cable. If that works, then call the card or camera manufacturer to determine what may be the problem.

Thanks for the rapid response.
It's not an XD card - this camera is old.  So old it doesn't have a USP cable.  It uses a serial port cable which she didn't have.  I bought one on e-bay over the weekend so will try that when I receive it.
Thought someone might have had a similar experience.

Are the usb ports on the computer USB1 or 2? If USB1 and you have a USB 2 card reader that is not backwards compatible, the reader will not work correctly.

I have tried a FujiFilm PCMCIA Card reader in my laptop and a HP printer/scanner with built in card reader.

Have you tried looking at the contents of the memory card on your computer rather than trying to "download" them? Does the memory card appear on "My Computer" menu? If it does, double-click on it and see what contents appear. If you see image files there, just copy them to a place on the computer's harddrive. You can bypass the "download" process that way.

NOTE: Be sure not to "move" the files. Just "copy" them. Do not format the card on the computer either. Just "copy" the image files to the computer.

Regardless of the reader used the drive shows up but no files show up on the drive.  I believe it's a formatting problem.  I was able to recover the files using photorec.exe even though they don't show up.
I then tried to format a 16mb and a 32mb card in the camera and they would not format-the screen just goes blank.
The camera is pretty old and may have run it's course.
At least I was able to recover the photos for her.
Thanks for the help.

Whew! Thank goodness you reclaimed the images.

Sorry to hear about the camera's formatting problem. Perhaps it's fixable. The screen will go blank if the batteries are not fully charged. Have you checked them by any chance?

Yes, checked the batteries.  Also had it hooked up to power adapter.  The camer isn't worth the repair.  I gave her my old QV3000 which works pretty good.  A big improvement over her old 1.3 MP.
Thanks for the help.
