Purchased a Kodak Z7590, a Phillips Digital Picture Frame, and 2 Sandisk SD 1 gb cards.  We prepared a slide show of pictures for a 50th Anniversary and wanted to transfer the pictures to the 1 gb card for use in the Digital Picture Frame.  When transferring the pictures from the PC to the card, the card will only take 170 pictures even though it shows that it is only 10% full.   Same thing happens with both cards.   Any ideas on why this is happening?

Hi dms and welcome to the Q&A Board!

Not familiar with the Digital Picture Frame, but I did check out Phillips' website. It says:

Between 50 and 80* pictures from SD, MMC, Memory Stick® and CompactFlash® memory cards, or directly (via USB) from digital cameras or PCs can be uploaded into the Digital Photo Display.

As to the transferring problems, not sure what's happening. What method are you using to transfer them; software? click and drag? How many images are on the PC? Have you renamed some of the images and, if so, are they the ones that are not transferring? How did you create the slide show and in what format is it saved? Is the slideshow stand alone, or does it require transfer of the images?

I'm also wondering if part of the problem is that whatever changes your made to the images are not compatible with the card formatted by the camera.

Before doing any additional formating of the cards, check your manuals or call the manufacturers for help. Incorrect formatting can ruin a card, and one gig cards are not cheap to replace.

The picture frame's internal memory holds up to 80 photos.  The picture frame also has slots for different cards and then the frame will display the pictures from the card (so the number of pictures the frame will display should be determined by the size of the card).

For transferring, we tried both click and drag and also tried selecting all and then sending or copying to the f: (which is the drive for the card reader).  I think all the pictures are jpeg file formats, but I will have to check.

Thanks.

I wasn't referencing if you changed the file format. I was wondering if you changed the filename. If you've formatted a memory card with your digital camera, it contains folders and filenames compatible with the camera. If you change the filenames, they may not be recognizable by the card when you try to transfer the images back to it. If that's the case, try changing the file names to a similar format as how they are numbered by the camera. For example, if your camera names them "abc_2" and you've changed the name to "photo1," rename the files to something with xxx_#. Hope I'm explaining myself clearly.
