Huh  I have a 512 XD card that I'm having issues with.  (obviously right? lol)  I have two other XD cards with which I do not have this problem.  When I take the card to Kroger or Walgreen's, it says that there is nothing on the card.  Walgreen's even has an XD only slot on their machines.  The pics plainly show on the camera.  The first time I took pics using it, I ended up having to hook the camera to a laptop and burn a CD.  That works but is a royal pain since I have to borrow someone's machine to do this.  Any thoughts on why I can't just take the 512 card in and print like the 64 and 128 cards?  I'm getting really frustrated with this as I need this 2nd round of pics ASAP.  (Storm damage photos for the insurance company - not hurricane related.)

Thanks for any help you can give me!!!!

Hi Carrol and welcome to the Q&A Board!

It seems pretty obvious to me that there is something wrong with the 512 XD card since it doesn't work but the other cards do. You may simply need to reformat the card in-camera to get it working again. You will, however, lose your images though there is always the possiblity of recovering them with software.

Since you can transfer the images to a computer, do so, then format your card in the camera. Make sure you format it and not simply use the erase function. Someone at this board recommended Art Plus Memory Card Safe Eraser. It's a free utility and many have praised its effectiveness. We have information about it here:

If this doesn't work you should contact the card manufacturer. There is a long, but very helpful thread in this section on XD card problems and solutions, which you may wish to check out.

Let us know how it goes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This thread contains information regarding software called Art Plus Memory Card Safe Eraser. According to developers at Art Plus, Memory Card Safe Eraser (APErase) was not designed to repair memory cards but simply to erase data. However when used to erase data, some have stated that their previously corrupted memory card became usable again.
