Hi,

I have a Canon A80 camera, had it about 18 months. When I got the camera I bought a card reader (to save batteries!!) I have taken and downloaded of 1500 picures using a 128Mb SD-ram card. However recently my computer has suddenly stopped recognising the card reader.

Basically on 7th July I successfully downloaded some pictures. The routine is I plug the card into the reader and then plug into the USB port. There is an LED on the reader and the system, using ZoomX from Canon autodownloads the pictures.

However after downloading some ADOBE picture software it has stopped working no light etc.

I have also tried using the camera and when I click download photos it says the camera is in use.

The camera itself goes through the motions of trying to download the pictures but never actually does it.

I even tried rolling back the computer to a month earlier settings wise and this has not solved the problem.

I am at a loss what to do - CAN ANYONE HELP.

Hi there,
My guess is that there is a conflict with the software you recently installed and the card reader app. I'd uninstall the software, then try your card reader and see what happens. I'll bet both the software and the card reader are trying to autotransfer the files at the same time and thus the conflict. (I've had that happen to me before. I resolved the conflict by opting for no autotransfer in the software preferences.)

Hi,
Here are couple suggestions, check your start up to see if the picture software are running at start up then disabled it, if your card reader is a external unit then disconnnect, this way you may find out if there is any program is currently using it, now re-connect and see if you're able to down load again.  Good Luck!
