Hi Duke and welcome.

I certainly wouldn't think so, it's not like a printer cartridge with low ink. Then again who am I to say. I guess the question is just how old is the media and does is compare poorly to a new one? I've got an XD card that's 3 or 4 years old and I don't see any deterioration in quality. My CF cards are all at least 2 years old (they've have been used extensively) and they seem OK too.
