One of my main reasons for purchasing my first digital camera was so I could take photos using the handy-dandy LCD screen on most digicams, instead of the viewfinder on my film camera.
My main reason for this "need" was that I began wearing glasses again after 10 years of wearing contacts. Wearing glasses can make using a viewfinder quite tricky, as your eye's angle is not corrrect.
Anyway, when purchasing a digital camera, if you are like me and desire an LCD screen that will show you what you are taking the photo of, make sure the model you are considering has that feature. Some digital cameras (most D-SLR's) do not have a live LCD. The LCD on those models is only for settings/menus, and for viewing your photos
after you have taken them.
When I was looking into buying a new digital camera, the model I was seriously considering did not have a live LCD. I did not know that until after I had purchased another model (Panasonic DMC-FZ50) which did in fact have a live LCD.
I chose wisely.
