I was told by tech support on the phone that the problem was the card i had was not on the "approved" list.  Another person in our office has the same problem without a card in the camera.  Has anybody else had this problem?

Hi there redrox and welcome to the Q&A Board,

Can you provide a bit more information. What does the system error 10 say? What card are you using and why isn't it "approved?" Wrong type? Too fast?

The only thing it says is "System Error 10" - This message comes up on the monitor.  You cannot do anything until the message goes away.  One of the cameras is stuck with the message on the monitor.  The dealer sent an Edge 128 MB card with the cameras.  (we ordered several cameras for our office)  Tech support told me to use a card with the brand that is listed in the users manual that came with the cameras.  The message on one camera is stuck, on another it comes on briefly and then goes off, on another it has been fine, no message at all.  Seems strange....  I wonder if we are going to have problems for the life of these cameras.

Hi Redrox,
Nikon support made these suggestions:
1. insert the memory card that originally came with the camera (Nikon approved card).
If that doesn't help, then:
2. remove the camera batteries, then replace them

If these suggestions don't resolve your problem, they say the camera must be sent to Nikon Service because there are no "user serviceable parts on the Nikon Coolpix cameras".
