I have a basic digital camera, today the computer would not recognise my camera. I tried installing the driver again but it still is not recognising the camera.  The other problem I have is that I lost all my photos on my memory card. I downloaded a recovery tool but it will not recognise my e drive only a or d.

I would appreciate any help any one can give me.

Thanks

Hi mollymoo.

Welcome to the Q&A Board!

What changed between today and the last time your card was recongnized by the computer? Have you installed any new software that may be conflicting with the driver? You will not be able to make use of a recovery tool since the card is not being recognized.

btw, are you using a memory card reader or a camera cable to transfer the images? Just a thought. Have you tried putting the cable into another USB port?

I assume you're not getting an error message that the card is not readable, or something like that.

Thanks for the help.
The only thing that Ive changed is that I upgraded Windows Xp with the service pack 2.

I have solved my problem by purchasing a memory card reader which a: worked on the computer
B: let me recover my lost photos

I believe this is probably the best thing I have done as suggested in your sight it saves the batteries on my digital camera.

Thanks

Great. Yes, I always recommend a memory card reader. It also saves wear on the usb area hinges on your camera.
