I have a Sony W7 digicam.
Why after editing a movie(I want to add music etc) from my camera on my computer, is it not possible to import the movie onto the memory stick again?
Is there a way around this problem?

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to the Q&A Board.

A few thoughts come to mind.

The memory stick, I'm sure, has been formatted by the camera. When any type of memory card is formatted, the camera creates it's own file system on the card including how folders and files are named. After you edit the file, do you change the name? My guess is that for this to work, if it can even be done after editing, the file has to be named according to the cameras file system.

How are you trying to get the file back on the stick, by dragging and dropping the file onto the card? If so, check the software which came with the camera. You may be able to export/transfer the file back to the card with the software.

Thankyou for your mail.
So success with renaming, thanks!
But I have a new problem, how can I view this edited video on my camera?
I think it could be to do with compression. All my software is from Sony and I do not make long movies, about 10 seconds or so.
Is there a way around this?

So glad the renaming suggestion worked!

As to viewing the edited video on the card, you need to set the camera to Playback mode. When the video is displayed on the LCD screen, follow the instructions in your manual as to how to play the video. Typically you just hit a toggle switch near the LCD to have the video play. I've never tried this with an edited video, however, so if it doesn't work I suggest you contact Sony tech support.
