I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my CP5400! If I want to use filters (polarizing, IR) must I buy 77mm to fit in the Nikon Lens Hood accessory? Does anyone know if there are any threads on the Lens Housing on this camera, and what is the size? I really do not want to spend big bucks on 77mm filters!
Thanks in advance,
Lou

Hi Lou and welcome!

I looked at the Nikon site and they list a filter set (includes a UV, circular Polarizer, Neutral Density 4 and Neutral Density 8 filters) available for your model digicam. These filters require the use of the HN-CP10 Lens Hood therefore they need to be 77mm. I suspect this is because the lens extends. Also the 77mm may help avoid vignetting when shooting wide angle shots.

Unfortunately I don't have first-hand knowledge of this camera model so I can't help you with the other questions in your post.  Sorry. Perhaps someone else reading this will join in with the answers.  Smiley

Lou,

You will have to use a Lens Hood, however there may be some made by other manufacturers which cost less and can be ordered from camera merchants who sell accessories. A good place to begin checking this out is Nextphoto.

There is an email address and phone number if you have questions. Though I've never personally used the company, I've heard from other 5400 users that the service and products are excellent.
