 Huh
Hi
My camera wont boot up with the SD memory card installed in the Card Slot??? It boots up fine without the card in place. I've got a Minolta Dimage E223 Camera, It should automatically switch to extrernal memory and there is nothing in the manual that helps. Am i doing anything obviously wrong?? I guesss the new memory could be faulty?

Hi allanl,

Welcome to the Q&A Board.

Just curious. Do you have another SD memory card that works? You said you're using a new one. Were you able to format it even?

If your camera came with a SD memory starter card, try it. If it works, that will help you determine whether the problem is with the new card or not.

Give us a bit more info and we'll surely try to help.

Hi
Thank-you for your reply. Yes my card is a new card, (haven't got another one to test the camera with). The camera would not boot up to even let me format the new card. The camera which is new, did not come with a memory card starter , any comments greatly appreciated.
Cheers Allan

Unfortunately, you're not alone with the problem you're having with your memory card. There's a discussion on the same subject which you should find helpful.

http://www.digicamhelp.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=access;action=display;num=1096138468;start=0

There are several suggested solutions posted there which have helped others and, hopefully, will help you.  Yesterday, for example, a board participant named Ken Cunningham wrote of how he fixed the problem. His post is on page four of the thread.

If none of the suggestions work, I highly recommend you contact the memory card manufacturer. Or maybe bring the card back to the store where you bought it, bring along your digital camera too, and test out some others in the store.
