I got a Canon A95 last week, my first digital camera.  I have taken several still pics and used the movie function.   I have transfered the files to my PC, but would like to also  keep the movie file on the CF card for a while, as I don't have a DVD burner yet.   Is there any way I can check the available space left on my CF card?  Thanks for your help!

Hi Linda and welcome to the Q&A Board. If you use a card reader you can treat the card as if it were just another drive. Insert the card, right click on the drive icon in "My Computer" and select properties. It should come up and show you how much room is left. I don't know that you can do this directly from the cam though.

Here are a few more thoughts.

When you're in record mode, the LCD should tell you how many more images can be saved to the memory card. When you're in video mode, it will tell you how many seconds you have left to record.

Also, it is probably a good idea to "protect" the video. This is usally done by putting the digital camera in Playback mode, access the protect menu, scroll through the images until you get to the video, then "protect" it.

Then you can ERASE all the other images. They all will be deleted from the memory card except the one, or ones, you protected.

It's important to note that you should use the ERASE function, not the FORMAT function (which permanently deletes all images, even those protected).

It would also be a good idea to save a copy of the video to your hard drive.
