Hi!
Am I right in asuming I can't use a slave flash with my A75.The manual appears to be telling me the camera uses a pre flash even in manual mode.

Hi Robert and welcome to the Q&A Board!

I check the reviews and the Canon A75 sounds like it will accept external flash units when you are in Manual Mode. The document (found at http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/A75/A75A.HTM#accessories) says: "In Manual mode, the flash fires only a single pulse, handy when you want to use the A75 with conventional "slave" triggers for external flash units. "

But, when I checked with the Canon site I did not come across any speedlight listed as a Canon A75 accessory.

Confusing, so I've placed a tech support query in to Canon. When I hear back, I'll pass on the info to you.

Hi Robert.

I just heard back from Canon Tech Support. Hope this helps. Here's what they wrote:

Quote
"Thank you for your inquiry regarding the PowerShot A75.

Regrettably, the PowerShot A75 will not have a Hot Shoe connection for a external flash.
The PowerShot A75 can only be used with the built-in flash.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

Sincerely,

Todd
Product Support Representative"
