This may be the most important tips (actually 2 tips) that I have ever learned ....

1. Take your camera with you

2. Take the shot

If you do not  have your camera with you, you cannot take a shot no matter how good the opportunity.  And even if you have your camera with you ... if you do not take the shot, then you miss the shot.  Period.

You might not get a good shot.  The subject might move before you get your camera out of your bag.  There may be nothing worth photographing on your outing (usually you can find something if you are looking) ....

.... But as I always say ... if you take your camera with you, you might get a good photo.  If you don't take it ... you will not.

A tip to live by. Smiley

Thanks Deb. Smiley

I have an excellent point in case .....

I just got back from my lunch break.  I went out to the park again to see what I could find.  When I got back, I heard a very noisy bird in the tree near where I park.  I spotted him .... a small little brown bird ... not very "interesting" as birds go .... but it was close, and chirping ... so it would have made a cool shot with beak open.  My camera was all packed up.  But ... I remembered this point and got my camera out.

Too late ... the bird was gone.   Sad   Tongue

So ... that is one negative example.  I can give you dozens and dozens of positive examples. Smiley  Like the blue jay out my office window yesterday at lunch time.  If I had not had my camera here at the office with me, I would have missed some great blue jay shots. I will post the best one at my site soon. Smiley
