Hello, everyone!  I'm new, thanks in advance for any help you can provide me Smiley

I just bought a new Sony Cybershot 330 today, took a bunch of great pictures, and when I plugged it into my computer and uploaded the shots, they show up as mere icons, such as a green play button symbol or other animated icons from the camera.  The photos themselves are nowhere to be seen.

The only thing I can fathom is that the new camera is 14 megapixels, and my computer is 3 years old, so maybe they just aren't compatible somehow?  I have no idea.  Can anyone tell me what the problem might be, and is there anyway to get photos from this camera onto my computer without buying a new computer??

Thank you!

Hi falldownstumble and welcome to the forum!

Did you transfer your images using the software that came with the camera? In other words, did you install the program that comes on the CD that came with the camera. It installs the camera driver and, usually, a basic editing program.

How did you transfer the images; with the camera cable or with a memory card reader?

Maybe no program currently on your computer recognizes the images. Are you they JPEG or video? If video, what is the format .avi  or .MOV?

The number of megapixels of your camera should not be causing such a problem on a three year old computer.

In order to help you better, could you also tell us which operating system you are using? We'll be better armed to help you then.

Some times I trying upload photo .I can found some information .I get a system sound when I've plugged in the camera, but nothing others. The computer no longer recognizes the camera. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Canon software, Norton Antivirus, and Web Spy Sweeper. I've tried to add the camera through Control Panel. Nothing works and I'm at my wit's end.

Hi khairujanina and welcome,

Sorry to hear about the problem downloading images.

Here are some additional things you may want to try, listed in no particular order:

- Disconnect camera from USB port and reconnect camera to a different USB port
- Disconnect any other devices and reboot computer
- install a newer version of ImageBrowser
- try downloading images in playback mode
- Check the Device Manager to see if there are any conflicts. Also try updating the driver from the Device Manager.
- If the problems started recently, try a System Restore if you have that option.
- Try a Memory Card reader instead of the camera cable.

If nothing works, call Canon tech support for assistance.
