Editors note: We recently received the following inquiry and decided to post it here as it may benefit others who have similar problems with Samsung and other digital cameras, and Kodak and other memory cards

I have a Samsung s860 digital camera.  We just returned from Disneyworld and I have about 300 photos on a Kodak card inside the camera.  I took the card to Walgreens to print and it could find no photos on the card.  I put the card back in the camera and you can see all of the photos.  I contacted Samsung, used the usb cable and tried to download directly to the computer and it cannot download them either. At this point the only way I can view them is thru the camera.  I tried to download to internal memory & no luck?  Is it possible to get these photos downloaded so I can print them??  PLEASE help me.  This was a once in a lifetime vacation.

I'm wondering if you formatted the card in the camera before using it? If not, do so in the future; not now or you could lose the photos you're attempting to recover.

Some suggestions:

Try updating the driver for your camera. Or uninstall and reinstall the software that came on the CD with your camera.  Check the Support and Driver download section at the Samsung website. Make sure the driver is compatible for your operating system.

Try a memory card reader. If it doesn't have software to launch the  memory card, double click on the memory card to see its contents. Select and drag any photos and/or directories that you see on the card to your desktop.

I also wouldn't rule out calling Samsung tech support again. Through all the years I've dealt with tech support, I've found some of the help to be clueless. So I call back a few times until I (hopefully) find someone who can help.

If none of these work, call Kodak, the memory card manufacturer. They can best assist, and may even be able to recover the images for you. They may charge a fee for this service.

You could also try a card reader and a data recovery software. Some of these offer trial versions, and their performances are often impressive.
