Working with digital images

I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 to put a descriptive caption across the bottom of each of my digital images.  The font in the captions is large.  Because the font is large, the oblong caption boxes partly obscure the lower part of the images.  Is there a way to reduce the size of the font?      Marzipan

I believe there should be an option just above the image area where you can select font sizes. However, I am not familiar with your particular version of Photoshop.

It should be similar to Photoshop. Click the Text Tool, highlight your text, and at near the top of the page change the font size. You can also change color, they actual font time and some fonts can be bolded and italicized. Check the PSElements help files to (do a search for "text" and you'll receive instructions for your version.

Text should be on a separate layer.
