I have a canon rebel xt and I am taking studio pics for dance students.  When I went to the studio to setup I was running some test shots and the lighting in my pics were inconsistent.  One pic would have perfect lighting and then the next would be poor/dark lighting.  Yet, my studio lighting was consistent, the subject never changed nor moved, I never moved, and my backdrop never changed.  What do I need to do to to maintain a consistent result?

What are the settings on the camera? Are you use P mode, AV, TV or manual? Also, are you using a single focus/metering point or multiple? Sorry to ask questions to a question but a little detail may help provide an answer.
