hi!  clueless newbie here!! im needing a quick answer to a problem.

I want to transfer images stored on a backup CD and place them on my SD memory card. is it possible and how? im leaving to go see my mom in a few days, who doesnt have a computer or camera. want to show her some pictures on my digital camera.

i think i might need something called a reader??? I dont know what that is and i dont have one!!

my camera doesnt appear to have a built in reader either - its a Canon Power Shot. i dont see a card icon when i open "my computer" while the camera is hooked up to PC and backup cd is inserted.....

help!!  thanks you guys!!!!

Hi lynnmarie0123 and welcome to the Q&A Forum!

Yes, you can put images back on a memory card. If you haven't changed the file names, it will be easier than if you edited them. We explain how to do it here:

http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/memory-cards/dcim.php

Your camera should have a cable that connects to the computer, so you may not need a memory card read. When connected, you can transfer the images from the computer back to the card.

I don't understand why yours is not working. Have you installed the ZoomBrower software and driver? I suggest you transfer the images to your PC first, rather than try to transfer them from a CD to a memory card. Then remove the CD after the transfer.

But just in case, here is some information about memory card readers:

http://www.digicamhelp.com/accessories/memory-cards/memory-card-reader.php

If your memory card is Secure Digital High-Capacity, make sure the reader is compatible.

You stated you are a newbie and some of the information above it a lot to digest, so please let us know if you have additional questions.

btw, if none of this works, why not print them out and show your mom. Many places such as Walmart and Target have photo kiosks. You can insert a memory card, view and edit the photos, and print them out by yourself, all within minutes.

Wasn't your inquiry about how to put images back on a memory card?

The prices of memory cards have significantly dropped the last few years. Take a look in our Amazon shop.

If you take a lot of photos, I don't recommend using memory cards as the main storage for digital images, it can be useful at times.

But if you do want to use a memory card for storage, take a look at Sandisk "shoot and store" secure digital cards (do a search at Amazon). They hold up to 200 photos and only cost a few dollars each).
