hi EVERY ONE

i have a fugifilm finpix A510

And was wondering about transfering pictures back on to the card using the camera.

this is what i can do so far. i can copy pictures to the pc from the camera.
Then edit one or two, then transfer them back to the camera this is easy because it will tell you that a file with the same name already exist, and do you want to replace it, click on yes, thats fine.

But is there a way to put pictures back on the camera after they have been deleted from the camera, but are still on the pc.

I have tryed this once and it did work, but i forgot how i done it, has it got something to do with file names ,and folder names.

And i think you have to preserve the exif data.

thanks guys for any replys

Hi,

I'm not familiar with your specific camera model. Does it work as a virtual memory card reader (for instance, do you use Windows Explorer to move cards to and from the camera?)

If so, then there is no problem with just copying the files back on the card.

I'm guessing maybe you want to know if you can move the images back to the camera, and still be able to see them on the camera screen, in playback mode. In that case, it reallly varies with each camera model. Most of the time, if the EXIF is preserrved, it will work. File numbering should also be unchanged.

Be wary, though. With most cameras, the highest file number on the card is used to decide the numbering of the future files. So that if your numbering was up to, say, 5000, but you add a file with a number of 4000, it's likely that the next file the camera writes will be numbered 4001. This could lead to problems with duplicate numbernig for different files.

Just remember, when you transfer edited files back to the memory card, they will overwrite your original files. This is fine if you have unedited originals on you hard drive. It's always wise to work on copies or originals, so if you should make a mistake editing, you still have the original to work on again.

hi again
i have just formatted the camera and taken one picture the file number on the picture is (0158)  i copied this to the computer.

So there was one image in the (2008_11101mage folder) i then copied 4 other pictures into this folder and then transfered them to the camera.

I then turned the camera back on pressed playback mode, now the first picture i took (0158) comes up then the next two are blank
the third is (0085) and then the forth is (0087)

You can se these pictures on the LED screen

I then took another picture using the camera and that comes out as (0059)

so the files on camera now come out as
(0158)
(0159)
(----)
(----)
(0085)
(0087)

the last four being the ones i copied to the camera, I can sort of work it out but it is a bit puzzeling

Do you know why two of them are blank

Hi,

it's probable that your camera does not recognize the files because they were altered in some way. I know that Canon cameras (at least the two I used) would not recognize a file, even if the EXIF was intact, if the picture itself had been modified. This is probably what's happening.

Log story short, cameras are not the best tool to review pictures and show them around...

yes you are write, i had altered them to take the red eye out, but i did that on all four pictures

doe's this have an affect on the file order when you delete a picture if it doe's not turn out write. then take another one.
