Made a quick movie with my Canon PowerShot SD450, and had the camera turned sideways to better fit the subject.  But the movie displays sideways and I don't see an button to rotate it in Windows Media Player - like with sideways pictures.  Does some display software allow you to easily turn a movie 90 degrees ?  Thank you.

Of course, I've never done that!  Grin Wink

Seriously, if you have a recent version of Canon ZoomBrowser, you can rotate the video file to the correct orientation.

In the Tasks sidebar, click on Edit > Edit Movie > Right-click the selected video and select Rotate.

You can download the latest update of ZoomBrowser. Make sure to select the one that is compatible with your operating system:

Video editing programs usually have this feature, as does Apple QuickTime Pro.

I was trying to do this, but I couldn't find any software to do it, so I wrote it. Smiley It's freeware/open source, you can download it here: http://movierotator.com

It can only handle QuickTime MOV movies, if you want to rotate other formats, like AVI/MPEG, then you'd be best to import the movie into Windows Media Player, and apply a rotate Effect. Jake Ludington  has a tutorial on how to do that: http://www.jakeludington.com/movie_maker/20080205_rotate_digital_camera_videos_with_windows_movie_maker.html

Yes, thank you. If it's okay, I'll feature it in the next newsletter and post it on this page at the main site that features free photo-related software:
