Shocked OOps!  I was in ZoomBrowser EX and clicked to delete ONE file and they ALL disappeared!!!  I went to my Recycle Bin and clicked "restore", but they are still missing.  I know they are in here somewhere!  Aren't they?  How can I recover them?

Canon ZoomBrowser EX program on a Dell Dim.4100 PC with Windows XP.  Using Canon PowerShot A75 camera

PLEASE HELP
Thanks,

Hi there Ifshadow,

Welcome to the Q&A Board!

Did you close down ZoomBrowser and reopen. After a restore, they usually don't show except if you relaunch the software.

Also, do a computer search for Pictures via the Windows Start menu.

Hi lfshadow and welcome to the Board!

Even if Gail's tip doesn't work, don't panic just yet. It's not a fun situation, but it might be solvable. There are some files recovery softwares that exist that allow you to scan a memory card, and even a hard drive, and recover lost files. One that I know of is PC Inspector, which is free. There are many others around. These softwares might be able to find back your files, but it strongly depends on the way they were erased. If they were simply removed from the FAT of the computer, you should find them. But if they were really erased, it's going to be more difficult.

Be aware that inspecting your hard drive will take a long time, and that the software will probably find all of your files, even those that are still there. Also, it will make new copies of all those files, so I hope you have enough free disk space.

Good luck!

I did and I found most of them but they are in "My Pictures" and not in ZoomBrowzer anymore

You have to understand that Zoombrowser is only a viewer. The pictures are actually on your hard drive, at a given location (and by default the Canon softwar places the pictures there). The pictures are not "in" any software. But in Zoombrowser, if you look at the bottom left, you will see your whole computer hard disk structure. You should be able to access My Pictures from there, and then you should see your pics.
