Well, I failed you there. I looked at the replacement part number for my Olympus's USB cable, and it's different than yours.
Also, I found a closeup picture of the data port
here, and that's not a standard mini-B port (I was looking at a picture of the cable at the Olympus site before - not as detailed).
So, it looks like Olympus's proprietary cable design is going to serve its purpose - make more money for them.
Unless you get a card reader! Oh, wait, I can't take credit for that idea - you already mentioned it.
