I have searched and searched for a USB cable for my Olympus D-595 Zoom camera.  I bought it as a disply so the cable didn't come with it.  It is apparantly not a standard port because all the universal ones don't fit.  Does anyone know where I can find this particular one?  I've tried Olympus.com but they want 30 bucks for it which I think is absurd.  Please tell me I don't have to pay that price!! Ouch!

Have you tried ebay?

Or maybe you can buy a adapter for it like those sold here:

I just found this company by doing a search and don't know anything about them. Nevertheless, you may want to contact them and see what they advise.

I you want to use the cable primarily to transfer images from camera to computer your best bet may be to buy a memory card reader. If you want to connect direct to a PictBridge printer, you'll need the correct cord.

Do you know any reliable sources for a card reader?  I bought one on ebay and it was corrupt.

The cable looks like a standard A to mini-B USB cable - the same kind that most digital cameras, pda's and other small USB devices use.  You can usually get them online so cheap that it will cost you more to ship them than the cable itself costs.

Example.

I've got an Olympus camera at home - I've never tried another mini-B cable on it, but I will this evening and post back with results.

Ok thanks.  But I'm not sure all Olympus cameras have the same port.  My camera is discontinued.  I bought one of the usb adapter kits and none of them fit.

Well, I failed you there.  I looked at the replacement part number for my Olympus's USB cable, and it's different than yours.

Also, I found a closeup picture of the data port here, and that's not a standard mini-B port (I was looking at a picture of the cable at the Olympus site before - not as detailed).

So, it looks like Olympus's proprietary cable design is going to serve its purpose - make more money for them.

Unless you get a card reader!  Oh, wait, I can't take credit for that idea - you already mentioned it.

Newegg is a top-rate company.  I've ordered thousands of dollars in computer parts from them, and never had a problem.  They're known for competitive pricing, speedy delivery and great customer service.  And no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way.   Roll Eyes
