Hi I'm new on the board. I am having trouble printing a photo that I took on my camera. It was originally color but I turned it black and white and cropped it using photo editing software. I also brightened the image a bit. When I go to print the image on my hp inkjet printer it prints absolutely nothing!!! I am using a black and white printer carteridge but the image is black and white. Whats the problem? Huh

Hi and welcome!

It's hard to know offhand what the problem is. Does your printer manage to print color pictures? Is that pic the only one it won't print? If so, I'm guessing maybe you saved the modified file in a format that the printer won't recognize. But I'm not overly familiar with printers. I know MY HP inkjet will print everything I want. Check to see if it will print the color version of that file.

If your computer recognizes it, your printer will recognize it.  Pictures are converted to and sent to your printers as bitmaps by your computer.

I'm betting your printer is probably not printing anything at all in black and white, from a picture to a simple text document.  The paper is running through the printer, and the printer heads are moving across the paper, right?  Perhaps your ink cartridge is empty, the ink is dry, or the nozzles are clogged.  I'd try a new ink cartridge.

If you're refilling your cartridges with those DIY kits, caveat emptor.  Some people have good luck with them, others don't.  I'd rather get the genuine parts and replace than some third party refill.  But that's just me.

Hi, you might want to check to make sure the printer's cables are well seated. They can sometimes come loose which would cause a breakdown in computer-to-printer communication.
